Nokia 5200: adding fun to mobility. by Grace Lewis

The Nokia 5200 is a slider phone with all round performance. Though not positioned as a music phone like the similar looking Nokia 5300, this device too features a decent media player. The Nokia 5200 is available in two colour solutions - flaming red or icy blue. The extensive use of white gives the Nokia 5200 a young and fashionable look. The spring assisted slide mechanism used is like the Nokia 6111.

The five-way navigation key and the TFT display that delivers more than 262 colours occupy the front of the device. The smooth slide action reveals the well differentiated keypad which are tactile and comfortable to use. Dedicated camera and radio keys as well as volume keys that doubles up as zoom when the camera is activated makes the Nokia 5200 very easy to operate.

The integrated VGA camera of the Nokia 5200 has relatively poor resolution (0.3 megapixel) when compared to 'normal' 2.0 megapixel cameras common in today's market, but it does its job well. The camera includes digital zoom and changeable white balance as well as fun effects and frames. You can also shoot videos in 15 frames per second.

The music capabilities of the Nokia 5200 is almost equivalent to Xpress Music phones. The media player plays all popular media format including MP3, AAC, AAC+ and AAC enhanced. The 5 Mb built in memory is good enough only to carry a few ringtones however, there is an expandable memory slot to carry your music and video files. The Nokia 5200 also features a stereo FM radio so that you can tune in to your favourite station.

The Nokia 5200 gives you Internet connectivity on the go through GPRS other than triband GSM network support. The device is equipped with HSCSD/CSD for faster data transfer within a network. Bluetooth wireless technology, USB mass storage and Infrared connectivity lets you connect the Nokia 5200 with any compatible external device for synchronization and information exchange.

Nokia N93i Review - One of Nokia's latest camera phones. by Doug Smith

This brand new N series phone model of Nokia can be considered as an update from the Nokia N93. Due to a lot of complaints that emerged from initial users of the Nokia N93, the release of N93i will hopefully help to calm these complaints.

A major difference that can be easily spotted is the new design. The N93 contains the common keypads of Nokia cell phones as compared to the metallic version of N93i. This type of keypad was first seen with the RAZR phones of Motorola and it seems that Nokia has found their own way of incorporating this stylish look into their mobile phones. There's also a unique flipping style that the Nokia N93i is also capable of.

Nokia N93i Review One of the common complaints against the N93 is its weight. It seems Nokia listened to this complaints and did something about it. Unlike N93, this new version is lighter. It weighs about 160 grams, including the battery. It is a 17g less than the N93 and it is also thinner.

Another update that can be found in this phone is the sixteen million colored internal display. This is quite an increase from the 256K that N93 has to offer. This is definately a welcomed improvement. The majority of the features of N93 are still intact in the new N93i. These features include the 3.2 megapixel Carl Zeiss optics camera with 3x optical zoom that allows you to take great pictures.

With regard to its memory, it is almost the same with the N93. These phones both have 50MB internal memory. The difference is that the upcoming N93i comes with a bigger SD card. Compared with the 128MB card of N93, N93i comes with a whopping 1GB miniSD card.

However, the downside of N93i is the very short battery life, which is a common problem ofNokia N93i Review some mobile phones these days. Standby time approximately lasts up to 280 hours and around 4 hours for talk time. It is expected for this phone not to last long because of a smaller Li - Ion battery size. This could be one of the reasons why this new model is lighter compared to N93.

Compared to N93, N93i's battery is only 950mAh against 1100mAh of N93. Nokia could consider this as a drastic move because a lot of consumers are not really happy with the 1100mAh and with what they did, they only make things worse. Cell phone manufacturers should attend to this battery life issue because a lot of consumers are not really happy about it. Some of them would say that there is no point of having a lot of features in a mobile phone if it can't last long.

Aside from these small changes with the features, it is almost identical to N93. Most of the previous configurations for N93 were kept with N93i.

These are just some of the initial findings in the upcoming Nokia N93i. With its release by the first quarter of this year, there could be more reviews, both positive and negative, for this mobile phone.

The Apple iPhone - State of the Art Technology by Christopher Meinck

Apple has been a big player in the consumer electronics market for years, with the release of the iPod. Apple is also well established as an innovator and trend setter in personal computer product development. Renowned for quality and usability, Apple's new product introductions typically receive positive reception from the buying public.

Now Apple is setting a new standard in the highly competitive mobile phone market with the introduction of the Apple iPhone. Packed with custom features, the iPhone also includes Apples reputation for quality and usability. Features include digital music files as well as digital video capabilities, and of course the digital camera function.

Other features include virtual keyboard with wireless internet connectivity. Sensors integrated into the mechanism allow the keyboard to distinguish between your finger and unwanted larger objects in your pocket or the side of your face during use. So the keyboard only will react to the push of your fingertip.

The iPhone is so loaded with features - it seems the engineers at Apple have thought of everything. It's a phone, personal computer, digital camera . Apple has packed so much into such a small package, including Apples platinum reputation for quality and durability. Apple is poised to take its place as the new leader in the cellular phone market with the iPhone.

The iphone is scheduled for release to the marketplace in June of two-thousand and seven, with price of $499 for 4 GB model and $599 for the 8 GB model. It can be purchased from one of Apples stores or from Cingular wireless. The iPhone is a phone truly worth waiting for.

With the iPhone, Apple has once again demonstrated the ability to stay ahead of market demand with visionary research and product development. The iPhone is expected to set a new standard in what is to be expected from a cellular phone.

One of the uses for digital signage has been in the area of computer based training. Digital signage software solutions have been developed to allow training to take place at various monitors located in a training area or even at remote areas. The content sent to each monitor can be controlled separately allowing students to progress at their own speed and not have to wait for slower students. The applications of computer based training using digital signage solutions are actually mind boggling when considered from the standpoint of an instructor.

If students are taking a computer class, the instructor can freeze individual monitors and create various situations that must be handled separately at each station. Once the problem has been solved, that student can progress on to the next lesson or view the next training video while the rest of the class continues to work on the problem. The instructor can monitor the progress of each student from the central control station.

Computers have opened up possibilities in training from the time they became small enough to fit on a desktop. The use of training videos have also been a part of the basic training arsenal since videos were first developed. In the pre-video era movies were used and later closed circuit television systems. The use of images has been recognized by trainers from the very beginning and now digital signage solutions have brought this to its logical conclusion. The major savings have come in the all important area of time. Employees in need of training need not leave their workstations to go to a distant training classroom. It is not necessary to change tapes or rewind them. Also, faster students no longer have to sit and wait while slower students catch up. The savings in the valuable commodity of time will justify and recover the cost of the system.

One of the most critical areas that use computer based training today is training in computers themselves. The demand for certified IT techs is clearly outstripped the supply. Digital signage solutions have many applications in training IT techs. The ability to control the remote computer from a remote location makes possible valuable hands on training in computer trouble shooting. This is an area where amazing progress is expected in the coming years. Digital signage and computer based training are two ideas that go compliment each other almost perfectly.
